United Way of Southeast Missouri announces 2025-2026 funding partners

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — United Way of Southeast Missouri (UWSEMO) has announced its funded partners for the 2025-2026 cycle, marking a strategic shift toward supporting working families and individuals.

The new funding model prioritizes programs addressing obstacles such as transportation, affordable childcare, and access to healthcare, aiming to create long-term pathways to financial independence.

According to Elizabeth Shelton, Executive Director of UWSEMO, the organization had to adapt to declining employee contributions and growing community needs.

Returning funded partners include American Red Cross, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and The Salvation Army, among others. New additions include Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) and the Co-Responders Unit of the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

UWSEMO will continue to fund internal programs, such as First Call for Help and Read to Succeed.

The organization’s Community Investment Committee and board of directors determined funding allocations based on applications and community needs.
