JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Jackson says a portion of Dorothy Drive is temporarily closed after Liberty Utilities reported a natural gas leak early Monday afternoon.

Utility crews are on site and have begun repair work. Jackson Fire Rescue is assisting at the scene, and several nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution. Officials said some residences may experience brief power shutoffs to allow crews to work safely.

Dorothy Drive is closed between North Farmington Road and Alvin Street while repairs continue. Drivers are asked to follow detour signs and avoid the area if possible.

City officials emphasized that the response measures are precautionary and that the situation is being actively managed.

There is currently no estimated time for restoration. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
