US Attorney, FBI vow to prosecute vandalism of federal building
CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — U.S. Attorney Steven D. Weinhoeft and FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Johnson say they will pursue and prosecute those responsible for vandalizing a federal building in Carbondale.
On Tuesday evening, a group gathered outside the Senator Paul Simon Federal Building, where some individuals defaced the exterior. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.
Weinhoeft warned that “those who committed this targeted vandalism to federal property will be pursued and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The FBI is seeking information about the incident and asks that anyone with information call 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) and reference “Carbondale Illinois Federal Building.”
