USW local 550 offers training grant for WKCTC programs
PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — The United Steelworkers Local 550 Charitable & Educational Organization is offering a training grant for individuals interested in pursuing diplomas in Air Conditioning Technology or Industrial Maintenance Technology at West Kentucky Community & Technical College.
The grant, which opened March 10 and closes April 4, provides funding for unemployed, underemployed and disadvantaged individuals, including those with a criminal background, as well as recent high school graduates seeking skilled craft employment.
Participants will receive free workforce skills education, flexible course scheduling and the opportunity to earn a diploma or certificate in one of the two designated fields.
Interested individuals can visit the Paducah Career Center for assistance with the application packet, which can also be picked up from PDGP Unit Presidents or the career center.
Completed applications must be submitted in person at the Kentucky Career Center or United Steelworkers Local 550.
Representatives from USW Local 550 will be available at the Paducah Career Center’s Tuesday Job Fair events on March 11, 18, 25 and April 1 to provide more information.
The public is also invited to attend Q&A sessions on March 18, 25 and April 1 at various locations in Paducah.
