VA Medical Center honors hospitalized veterans during National Salute week

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center is recognizing hospitalized Veterans during National Salute to Veteran Patients week, which runs from Feb. 9-15.
Since 1978, the Department of Veterans Affairs has designated the week of Valentine’s Day to honor Veterans through visits, volunteer opportunities and Valentine’s Day cards.
Local events include visits to VA and community nursing homes, meet-and-greets at VA facilities and a free “Valentines for Veterans” concert, co-hosted with the Wake Foundation.
“We’re honored to host Veteran Service Organizations, community partners and the public to give thanks to our Veterans,” said Interim Medical Center Director Fabian Grabski.
Last year, over 900 Valentine’s Day cards were sent to the John J. Pershing VA medical Center, and more than 105 volunteers contributed to events recognizing hospitalized Veterans.
To send Valentine’s Day cards, mail to John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, Attn: CDCE office, 1500 N. Westwood Blvd., Poplar Bluff, MO, 63901.
