VA Medical Center to open virtual health resource centers

WEST PLAINS, Mo., (KBSI) — The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center will open Virtual Health Resource Centers in West Plains and Poplar Bluff to help veterans navigate the VA’s smartphone apps and online care options.

The West Plains center will open June 12 and operate every Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon. The Poplar Bluff center will open July 31 and operate Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The centers will provide information on VA apps and virtual care services, including telehealth and video conferencing.

According to Wanda Jones, facility telehealth coordinator, the centers aim to assist veterans struggling with new technology.

“We want to help them get more comfortable with the tools,” Jones said.

The VA’s virtual care options are particularly important in rural areas, where travel to clinics can be difficult.

“These online options are a way to offer care to our veterans without them having to drive in,” Jones said.
