SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – A man crashed a vehicle into a grocery store in Sikeston Wednesday morning.

The man thought he pushed the brake, but instead hit the accelerator and ran into the side of the Aldi at 1045 S. Main Street, according to Sikeston Department of Public Safety Captain Jon Broom.

It happened at 9:13 a.m. The store sustained “pretty significant damage,” according to Captain Broom.

The store was shut down for a short period of time until a code enforcement inspector looked at the building and deemed it safe to reopen.

The driver declined medical attention and does not face charges.
