Vehicle stop leads to arrest of 2 men in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Two men face charges after Carbondale police stopped a vehicle for an expired registration tag.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of West Main Street in Carbondale on October 6 at 11:34 because the registration was expired.

Officers found a firearm inside the vehicle, according to police.

Christopher A. Timmons, 27, of Colp faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and expired registration.

Officers also arrested the passenger, Trance D. Neal, 33, of Carbondale on a charge of obstructing justice. Police say he  also have a Jackson County arrest warrant for failing to appear on a charge of possession of cannabis.

Timmons and Neal were taken to the Jackson County Jail.
