Veterans, Gold Star families invited to free day at DuQuoin State Fair

DUQUOIN, Ill., (KBSI) — The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs and the DuQuoin State Fair are hosting a free day for veterans and their families on Aug. 24.

The event celebrates the 250th birthdays of the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps and features a veteran’s resource fair, speaking program and complimentary lunch.

Veterans can attend for free with a military ID. Parking is not included.

The event schedule includes:

— 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Benefits Expo

— 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Entertainment

— 12-1:30 p.m.: Lunch

— 1:35-2:30 p.m.: Veterans Day Program honoring Gold Star Families
