VIENNA, Ill., (KBSI) — Students from the National Beta Club at Vienna High School earned more scholarships than any other individual school in the nation, according to school officials.
Data compiled by a Vienna High School junior shows eight of the 12 scholarships awarded in Illinois went to Vienna students. The remaining recipients included two from Eldorado High School and one each from A-C Central and Goreville high schools.
The National Beta Club includes members in 42 states, the District of Columbia, three U.S. territories and four foreign countries.
While some states had higher overall scholarship totals, no single school matched Vienna’s eight recipients. Scholarships were awarded from a pool of more than 4,900 applicants nationwide.
The awards are based on academic achievement, leadership, service and character.
“Seeing our students earn this level of recognition on a national stage is incredibly rewarding,” said Beta Club sponsor Leslie Bradley. “Their hard work, leadership, and commitment to service truly set them apart.”
Superintendent Joshua Stafford said the achievement reflects the students’ dedication and opportunities provided at the school.
Vienna officials said the results highlight the school’s continued success within the National Beta Club.
