Vienna High School honors past basketball champions

VIENNA, Ill., (KBSI) — Vienna High School recently recognized its 1974-75, 1975-76 and 2004-05 regional champion basketball teams.

The 1974-75 team, which finished with a 24-3 record and ranked eighth in the state, was led by the late Coach Jim Wilson. The team’s notable victories included a win over the state-ranked No. 2 Metropolis Trojans.

The 1975-76 team, which finished 17-11, also was led by Wilson and secured the 1976 Regional Title.

The 2004-05 team, which finished 19-11, was guided by Head Coach Rick Metcalf and secured Vienna High School’s first regional title in 29 years.

A reunion dinner raised $1,200 for Vienna Eagles basketball.
