Vienna High School senior awarded prestigious SIUC scholarship

VIENNA, Ill., (KBSI) — Vienna High School senior Ethyn Bradley has been awarded the prestigious Chancellor’s Scholarship at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Bradley, who plans to pursue a career in nursing, was surprised with the award in his classroom, surrounded by family, friends and classmates.

The four-year scholarship, valued at $107,000, covers tuition, room and board on the Carbondale campus.

Bradley, who is active in numerous extracurricular clubs, expressed gratitude and excitement about the opportunity to attend SIUC.

“Receiving this scholarship is an incredible honor,” Bradley said. “I’m eager to start my nursing education and pursue my goal of becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.”

Vienna nursing instructor Sherie Smith praised Bradley’s academic achievements and potential.

“Ethyn is an outstanding student who has worked diligently to prepare himself for a successful nursing career,” Smith said. “I have no doubt he will excel in SIUC’s nursing program.”
