VIENNA, Ill., (KBSI) — A Vienna High School senior has been selected to serve on the Illinois 4-H Alumni Advisory Council as a student ambassador representative.

Bonnie Russell was chosen for the position following an application and interview process that included essay questions, letters of recommendation, a résumé and an in-person meeting at the 4-H State Fair.

The council supports the Illinois 4-H program by strengthening alumni engagement, recognizing alumni achievements and encouraging continued involvement in the organization.

As a student ambassador representative, Russell will help connect current 4-H members with alumni opportunities and encourage students nearing the end of their 4-H careers to remain involved after graduation.

“I’m very excited to represent youth across the state and encourage other 4-H members to pursue a lifelong connection to the program even after high school,” Russell said.

Vienna High School 4-H sponsor Leslie Bradley praised Russell’s selection, citing her leadership and commitment to the organization.

“Bonnie’s selection is a wonderful recognition of her leadership and commitment to 4-H,” Bradley said. “We are proud to see her bring her voice and perspective to this council while helping other young people understand that their connection to 4-H can continue long after high school.”

The Illinois 4-H Alumni Advisory Council includes alumni and youth representatives who work to support the organization’s programs and strengthen connections between current and former members.
