Vienna High School students earn top honors at county 4-H show

VIENNA, Ill. (KBSI) — Several Vienna High School students received top honors during this year’s county 4-H shows, earning Grand Champion, Reserve Champion, Blue Ribbon and Illinois State Fair qualifications in multiple project categories.
According to Vienna High School, the annual 4-H program gives students opportunities to develop leadership, communication and technical skills through hands-on projects in agriculture, science, the arts and community service.
Grand Champion honors were awarded to:
- Olivia Quertermous, Civic Engagement
- Bonnie Russell, Gardening, Agriculture & Food Access
- Millie Partridge, Creative & Cultural Arts
- Bonnie Russell, Animal Sciences
Reserve Champion honors went to:
- Bonnie Russell, Environmental Science
- Anna Bremer, Gardening, Agriculture & Food Access
- Bonnie Russell, Creative & Cultural Arts
- Anna Bremer, Animal Sciences
Several students also earned Blue Ribbon recognition in categories including floriculture, forestry, photography, veterinary science, creative writing, computer-generated art, fiber arts and nature.
Bonnie Russell qualified to compete at the Illinois State Fair 4-H Show, with several other Vienna students also planning to participate.
“4-H gives students the opportunity to explore their interests, build confidence and develop skills that will benefit them far beyond the competition,” 4-H sponsor Leslie Bradley said.
Superintendent Dr. Joshua Stafford said the program helps students apply what they learn, develop leadership skills and pursue interests outside the classroom while representing the school and community.
