Vienna High School superintendent encourages career based programs

VIENNA, Ill. (KBSI) – Vienna High School received grant funding for two new career-based programs.

These programs allow for tuition reimbursement and paid job shadowing for students.

These early college programs allow for students to get hands on experience in a job they may be interested in and get paid for it.

Vienna Superintendent Joshua Stafford explains how the tuition reimbursement program works.

“If they’re going into a career the requires some post-secondary credentials whether it be a certificate, an associate or bachelor’s degree that we’re actively working on getting them access to those career related classes and reimbursing that tuition so that it’s not a hurtle for them to access that career readiness while they are in high school,” said Stafford.

Jillian Jones is a student at Vienna High School who has taken part in both of the job shadowing and tuition reimbursement programs. She’s interested in teaching and says she’s really thankful for both programs.

“Its opened my eyes to what all teachers do and not just what happens through a school day but what happens after hours to make things happen.” said Jones.

The programs run off of grant funding provided by the state, and both programs will run until funding is exhausted.

All students attending Vienna High School are eligible for the program.
