Vienna makes history with sweep of IHSA 2A regional titles
VIENNA, Ill., (KBSI) — For the first time in school history, Vienna has captured both the boys’ and girls’ IHSA 2A Regional titles.
The Lady Eagles defeated Johnston City to claim their second consecutive regional title, capping off a record-breaking season with 29 wins.
The Eagles, meanwhile, topped Massac County [score] to secure their first regional title in 18 years, finishing the season with a 23-12 record.
Vienna Athletic Director David Hill praised the teams’ hard work and determination, saying, “Eagles basketball has had an outstanding season.”
Superintendent Dr. Joshua Stafford added, “Our basketball programs have worked hard to have outstanding seasons. It’s a blast to celebrate with our students.”
The Vienna administration extended thanks to the players, families, fans, community, and sponsors for their support and dedication.
