CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Conservation and Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation are inviting volunteers to help clean up Cape LaCroix Creek during Friends of the Park Day on April 18.
The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m., with volunteers meeting at the Cape Girardeau Nature Center for supplies and assignments along the creek between Walden Park and Shawnee Sports Complex.
Officials said the annual event is part of the city’s Great Cape Clean-Up and includes more than litter removal, with volunteers also helping plant flower beds, mulch playgrounds and complete other park improvements ahead of spring.
The event is open to all ages. Participants who register by 5 p.m. April 7 will receive a T-shirt and lunch.
More information and registration details are available through the Missouri Department of Conservation.
