Volunteers sought to help care for shelter animals on Christmas morning

FOX23 News at 9 p.m.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – Southeast Missouri Pets is seeking volunteers to help care for animals at its shelter on Christmas morning.

The organization said it is looking for community members to assist with basic morning care, including feeding animals, cleaning kennels, providing fresh bedding and ensuring dogs and cats are comfortable. The effort will allow shelter staff, who work every holiday, to have Christmas morning off.

Volunteers do not need to be regular or long-term helpers, and a few hours of assistance can make a difference, according to the shelter.

Volunteers are needed from about 6:30 or 7 a.m. until noon. Roles include dog care and cat care.
