Walks Foundation donates to Mercy Cancer Center to support testicular cancer patients

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Mercy Cancer Center received a donation to support testicular cancer patients.
The Walks Foundation donated $6,250 to Mercy Cancer Center during a check presentation July 12.
The foundation is an organization that raises awareness and provides support for families in the fight against testicular cancer in southeast Missouri.
The donation will benefit Mercy Cancer Center testicular patients by providing resources such as transportation, medication assistance, nutritional supplements and more.
The Walks Foundation hosted the LemonDrop Long Drive in April. The annual long-drive golf competition event gives participants like Dr. Andrew Moore, Mercy Southeast oncologist, and Curt Buchheit, Mercy Health Foundation Southeast board chairman, an opportunity to compete to see who can drive a golf ball farthest.
Proceeds benefited multiple organizations in the area including Mercy Cancer Center.
“We’re so grateful to Nate Gautier and The Walks Foundation team for this generous donation,” said Darah Jirkovsky, Mercy Health Foundation Southeast executive director. “Our patients will benefit from the generosity of the organization, and we look forward to working with them more in the future.”
The Walks Foundation promotes the importance of monthly self-exams for early detection as well as preventative education for men in the community.
