Wanted man used fake name to try to avoid arrest

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL – (KBSI) – Dakota Holmes has three outstanding warrants in two counties. Police made contact with Holmes during a traffic stop after he left West Frankfort, IL.

Officers knew that Holmes was armed, driving on a suspended driver’s license, and had a history of jumping out of vehicles to evade police. During the traffic stop, Holmes was ordered out of the vehicle and used “Cody” as a fake name. After a search of Holmes and the vehicle, Officers found a glass pipe, a bag with methamphetamine, and a loaded 22 caliber semiautomatic handgun.

Holmes was cited for the following:

  • Armed Habitual Criminal
  • Unlawful Use Or Possession Of A Weapon By A Felon
  • Aggravated Unlawful Use Of A Weapon
  • Methamphetamine Possession
  • Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Resisting Or Obstructing A Peace Officer
  • Driving While License Suspended
  • No Valid Driver’s License
  • Possession Of Adult Use Cannabis In A Motor Vehicle
  • Operating Uninsured Vehicle
  • Disobey Stop Sign
  • Improper Turn Signal

His outstanding arrest warrants were for the following:

Williamson County

  • Possession Of A Stolen Vehicle
  • Criminal Trespass To Vehicle

Franklin County

  • Methamphetamine Possession
