Ways to celebrate Earth Day

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – There are plenty of local Earth Day events to go around on Friday, April 22.

One such event is Earth Day at the Sustainability Garden in Calvert City, Kentucky. From 8 a.m. to noon, you can celebrate the Sustainability Garden’s second year with educational, Earth Day focused events. There will be folk music in the garden, yoga at 9 a.m., mug gardening and birdhouse and windchime crafts.

You can head to Hendrickson Park in Poplar Bluff to celebrate the Earth with crafts and snacks beginning at 5:30 p.m.

In Cape Girardeau, the Kent Library at Southeast Missouri State will be hosting an Earth Day Pop Up Shop with The Department of Art and Design, Charles Hudson Greenhouse, the Clay Club, Catapult, and Mississippi Mugs. There will be art and plants for sale, discounts on drinks, and fun projects to complete.

Also in Cape Girardeau, the Cape Girardeau Nature Center is putting a twist on the popular escape room.

Dubbed “Nature’s Escape Room”, this challenge will require teams to solve nature-themed riddles and puzzles about the unique characteristics of some of Missouri’s wildlife species before time expires… You can register on the Cape Girardeau Nature Center’s Facebook page.
