WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. (KBSI) – West Frankfort Firefighters respond to thousands of calls in 2024.
The West Frankfort Fire Department says in 2024 West Frankfort Firefighters responded to a total of 2,727 calls including

-28 Structure Fires
-74 Mutual Aid Requests
-34 Brush Fires
-14 Vehicle Fires
-11 Electrical Fires
-64 Misc Fire Emergencies
-60 Fire Alarms
-13 Smoke Scares
-67 Motor Vehicle Collisions
-7 Rescues
-62 Illegal Burns
-4 Controlled Burns
-2 Missing Persons
-20 Utility Hazards
-16 Code Enforcements
-5 Animal Calls
-18 Misc Assist Requests
The West Frankfort Fire Department says this is an increase from 2,374 calls in 2023.
Firefighters say they will remain busy throughout the year and continue to get busier as the years go on.
