Wildfires burn across Southern Missouri amid high fire danger

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Wildfires sparked by dry conditions and high winds swept across southern Missouri on Wednesday, burning private land, conservation areas and federal lands.
Most fires were contained by Thursday morning, but the Missouri Department of Conservation warned of ongoing high fire danger in the region.
Specialized firefighting teams from the department worked with local and federal agencies to contain the blazes, which included fires in the Caney Mountain Conservation Area in Ozark County and the Current River Conservation Area in Reynolds County.
