Williamson County declares State of Disaster following EF4 tornado
MARION, Ill., (KBSI) — Williamson County has declared a disaster after an EF4 tornado struck the area.
County Board Chairman Tim Atkisson issued the declaration on May 16, citing the need for rapid response and recovery efforts.
The declaration activates the county’s Emergency Operations Plan and mobilizes all departments and agencies to provide aid and assistance.
The disaster declaration is effective until May 23, unless extended.
The move follows a recommendation from the county’s Director of Emergency Management and is authorized under the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act.
