Williamson County deputies arrest suspect in stolen vehicles and burglary case

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — A man suspected in two vehicle thefts and a residential burglary was taken into custody this week following an investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies first responded around 11:10 p.m. on Nov. 18 to the 12000 block of Lake of Egypt Road after receiving a report that an unknown man stole a vehicle from a parking lot, crashed it into a dumpster and fled on foot.

The next morning, on Nov. 19 at about 10:50 a.m., deputies were called to the 12000 block of Pebble Point Road for a second stolen vehicle. Investigators determined a Lincoln sedan had been taken from a residence. The car was later recovered in the 2000 block of Market Road.

Evidence gathered during the investigation led deputies to identify Will D. Hester as the suspect. Hester was located a short time later, admitted involvement in both thefts, and was taken into custody.

Hester is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Theft over $10,000 (Class 2 felony)
  • Theft (Class 3 felony)
  • Residential burglary (Class 1 felony)
  • Criminal damage to property (Class 4 felony)
  • Criminal trespass to vehicles (Class A misdemeanor)

He was transported to the Williamson County Jail.
