Williamson County former clerk caught in a lie

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KBSI) – Circuit County Clerk Justin Maze announced his resignation on Jun. 18 claiming he has an upcoming deployment over seas.

However, the Justice Department announced that Maze was forced into resignation. Maze is a co-owner of Lawler and Maze Properties LLC. Two years ago the company’s president, Stephen Cook, plead to guilty to fraud after falsifying bank records.

Maze entered a program where he admitted to assisting Cook and under the conditions was forced to resign as Williamson County Clerk. He is also unable to run for public office in the future.

Maze took to Facebook on Jun. 23 apologizing for the lie.
