HERRIN, Ill., (KBSI) — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has concluded a month-long investigation into the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics at the high-rise apartment building located at 301 N. 14th St. in Herrin.
Deputies said the investigation included multiple controlled purchases of crack cocaine from the residence. Based on evidence gathered, a search warrant was executed at 1:03 p.m. Friday.
During the search, deputies recovered crack cocaine, digital scales, and packaging materials consistent with drug distribution.
As a result, Netta L. Adams was charged with the following offenses:
Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine) — Class X Felony (720 ILCS 570/401)
Possession of a Controlled Substance — Class 4 Felony (720 ILCS 570/402)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia — Class A Misdemeanor (720 ILCS 600/35)
Deputies noted that while the search was being conducted, several individuals arrived at the residence attempting to purchase narcotics — only to be met by law enforcement.
“This investigation demonstrates the persistence of our deputies in targeting drug trafficking operations within our county,” said Sheriff Jeff Diederich. “Our office will continue to dismantle networks that push dangerous drugs into our neighborhoods.”
Adams was taken into custody and transported to the Williamson County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office thanked Williamson County State’s Attorney Ted Hampson for his assistance in the investigation.
