Williamson County woman faces drug, prostitution charges after search

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — A Williamson County woman faces multiple charges after investigators said an online prostitution investigation led to the seizure of about 150 grams of methamphetamine from a rural home.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said investigators began looking into suspected online prostitution activity Aug. 27 after receiving information from another law enforcement agency.
Detectives said they communicated electronically with a suspect and obtained evidence of an alleged offer to perform sexual acts in exchange for money.
Investigators traced the activity to a home in the 9100 block of Maneese Lane and obtained a search warrant.
Detectives and members of the sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit executed the warrant around 5 p.m. Wednesday. While searching for phones and other electronic devices connected to the investigation, authorities said they found evidence of drug activity.
Investigators seized about 150 grams of methamphetamine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia and materials allegedly used to package and distribute cannabis.
Christina D. Shadowens was arrested and taken to the Williamson County Jail.
She faces charges of prostitution, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The sheriff’s office said investigators continued receiving incoming phone communications allegedly related to prostitution while officers were executing the search warrant.
Authorities said Wednesday’s search was the second at the Maneese Lane home in less than six months.
The sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit searched the same residence March 5 following an investigation into alleged methamphetamine distribution. Deputies said they seized 84.76 grams of methamphetamine during that search, along with scales, packaging materials and other evidence allegedly associated with drug distribution.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified because children reportedly were present during both searches.
The Carbondale Police Department and Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted in the latest investigation.
The charges are allegations. Shadowens is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
