The Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the regional event, which was organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

After three rounds of competition, the top finishers were:

  • First place: Sharon Shi, Lone Oak Middle School
  • Second place: Konnor Knott, Lyon County Middle School
  • Third place: Naomi Dean, Calloway County Middle School

The three students will advance to compete in the statewide Kentucky Chamber National Civics Bee later this summer.

Prizes included $500 for first place, $250 for second place and $125 for third place. All finalists received tablets, provided by sponsor Comcast.

The competition featured students from seven middle schools across the region.

Participants were evaluated on essays, multiple-choice civics questions and a final round of interview-style questions.

The top five scorers advanced to the final round, with cumulative scores determining the winners.

The National Civics Bee is an initiative of the Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation aimed at promoting civic engagement among young people.
