Winter storm brings surge in crashes, motorist assists across Missouri

MISSOURI (KBSI) — Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a high volume of incidents statewide as of 8 a.m. Sunday amid winter storm conditions.

According to MSHP, all troops reported a total of 858 calls for service.

Troopers assisted 143 stranded motorists and responded to 144 non-injury crashes and 23 injury crashes. One fatal crash was reported, though officials said it was not weather-related.

The patrol urged motorists to avoid travel unless necessary as hazardous conditions continue across the state.
