Winter storm warning issued for Thursday and Friday: residents urged to prepare
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI)- A winter storm warning has been issued for late Thursday through Friday, with significant snowfall expected.
Residents are advised to stay informed through local weather forecasts and official updates.
The National Weather Service and emergency management officials warn that winter weather can cause disruptions to travel, heat, power, and communication services, posing a significant risk to vulnerable populations, including older adults, children, and those with medical conditions.
To prepare, residents are advised to:

– Charge cell phones and have backup power sources
– Check on neighbors, friends, and family members
– Insulate homes and prepare pipes for freezing temperatures
