Woman arrested after traffic stop leads to meth bust

BENTON, Ill. (KBSI) – An Elizabethtown woman faces drug charges after a traffic stop in Benton, Illinois on Wednesday.

Adawnya D. Solomon, 31, faces charges of unlawful possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine (15-100 grams/Class X felony) and unlawful possession of methamphetamine (15-100 grams/Class 1 felony).

A Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on N. Main Street near McFall Street in Benton around 12:20 a.m. on August 21.

The deputy requested a K-9 to respond to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit responded and a positive alert was made.

The deputy searched the vehicle and found four clear plastic bags of a white crystalline substance on Solomon who was the passenger in the vehicle, according to Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies tested the four bags of crystalline substance and it showed positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Solomon was arrested and taken to the Franklin County Jail.

Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by Benton police officers.
