Woman charged after firing handgun in apartment

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Police responded to a property damage call on Bloomfield Street around 8 a.m. Tuesday, where they met with Taniya Robinson, 33, of Sikeston.

Robinson told officers she was involved in a physical altercation in her apartment the previous night and fired a handgun in an attempt to get the other person to leave. The bullet struck the wall and entered an adjacent apartment; no injuries were reported.

Robinson was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a Class B felony, and felony armed criminal action. She is being held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond.

The Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office filed the charges. As with any offense, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
