MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A woman faces charges after police say she used a man’s name to create an email account to send messages to the Paducah mayor and city commissioners.

Sandra K. Guess, 56, of Eagle Cove, was served a summons charging her with theft of identity of another without consent.

Paducah police say she used a man’s name to create an email account for purposes of sending a message purportedly on behalf of that person to the mayor and Paducah city commissioners.

Guess was indicted by a McCracken County grand jury. She was served an indictment summons May 11 charging her with theft of identity of another without consent.

In late January, a man reported his identity had been stolen and used to create an email account. The man reported that a Paducah city commissioner informed him about an email purportedly from him that had been sent to city commissioners and the mayor.

The email allegedly sent by the man was critical of the city commission’s actions at a public hearing regarding fellow Commissioner David Guess.

The man denied he had sent the email and reported it to the Paducah Police Department.

Detectives investigated and obtained records from the email provider, which included the cell phone number of the person who created the email account.

It was determined the cell phone number belonged to Sandra Guess.

Guess was interviewed by Paducah Police detectives. Police say she ultimately admitted to creating a fake account and sending the email at issue.
