Woman drowns after trying to help another person in river
ST. FRANOIS COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – A Valley Park woman died in a river in St. Francois County Sunday afternoon.
Melissa A. Park, 40, of Valley Park entered Big River to help a person in the water.
She became unconscious and was found floating face down in the water, according the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Bystanders recovered Park and began life saving measures.
She was pronounced at 3:14 p.m. by emergency personnel.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by Missouri State Park Rangers, St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department, St. Francois County Ambulance District and Desoto Rural Fire Protection District.
