Woman facing drug, weapon charges after traffic stop near Johnston City

JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (KBSI) – A woman faces drug and a weapon charge after a traffic stop near Johnston City.

Felicia C. Craig faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated unlawful use of weapon.

Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies say they saw a driver commit multiple traffic violations and stopped the vehicle on Corinth Road near Johnston City on May 18 around 11:29 p.m.

Deputies say as they approached the driver, identified as Felicia C. Craig, she was immediately hostile toward them.

Craig is known to deputies from prior contact.

Deputies saw that Craig’s destination and travel plans did not make sense and say she changed her story several times.

A Williamson County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit arrived on scene and was deployed to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. The K9 handler advised that K9 “Shadow” alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.

The deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a Hi-Point .380 caliber handgun.

Craig was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
