VIENNA, Ill., (KBSI) — Anne Flower set a new world record in the 50-mile trail race at the Tunnel Hill 100, finishing in an impressive 5 hours, 18 minutes, and 59 seconds.
The previous record of 5:31:56 was set at the same event by Courtney Olsen.
Flower, who lives and trains in the mountains of Colorado, ran an exceptional race while managing unseasonably warm conditions. With her mother serving as crew, she overcame challenges along the course and crossed the finish line smiling.
Originally from Cincinnati, Flower first entered the marathon scene at the Flying Pig Marathon. She said she hadn’t planned to pursue the world record but felt strong during the race.
