Woodland R-IV School District to move to four-day school week starting 2026–27

MARBLE HILL, Mo., (KBSI) — Woodland R-IV School District will transition to a four-day instructional week beginning with the 2026–27 school year, following a vote by the district’s Board of Education.
District officials said the decision was made after reviewing survey data, regional and statewide trends, and challenges facing public education. Board members cited staff recruitment and retention, as well as the need for more sustainable working conditions for educators, as key factors in the decision.
The board said maintaining strong instructional programs while attracting and retaining high-quality educators was a priority. Officials noted that staff stability and continuity directly benefit students by supporting a positive learning environment.
Additional details regarding calendars, daily schedules, instructional expectations and student supports will be released in the coming weeks as planning continues. District leaders said they are committed to clear and ongoing communication throughout the transition.
The Board of Education said it will monitor the impact of the change and make adjustments as needed to best serve students, staff and the community.
