Woodlawn man arrested on child pornography charge in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Woodlawn man following an investigation into allegations of child pornography.

Sheriff’s office officials said a criminal complaint was made at about 11:55 a.m. Jan. 8. Detectives continued the investigation and identified the primary suspect as Marcus W. Leyva, 36, of Woodlawn.

Investigators said evidence was collected that led to Leyva’s arrest on a charge of possession of child pornography. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he is being held pending a pretrial detention hearing.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could be filed. Leyva is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
