Wright-Way Rescue to host preview of expanded veterinary center in Murphysboro

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (KBSI) — Wright-Way Rescue is inviting the community to tour its new nonprofit veterinary center during a Hard Hat Preview event Saturday, Nov. 14.

The event will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at 8459 Old Highway 13 in Murphysboro. Visitors can enjoy refreshments, take guided tours of the facility and learn about opportunities to support the project.

The organization is working to raise $200,000 to complete construction and purchase equipment before the center opens.

“We have dreamed of a place where we could do more for the animals and families who need us,” said Christy Anderson, executive director of Wright-Way Rescue. “Now we can walk through those rooms and see that future taking shape.”

The project involves converting an approximately 4,000-square-foot former storage building on Wright-Way Rescue’s Murphysboro campus into an expanded veterinary facility.

Plans include four indoor examination rooms, an outdoor examination area, a central treatment room, surgical and dental suites, X-ray and critical care areas, and separate waiting and recovery spaces for dogs and cats.

According to the organization, the expansion will help address space limitations at its current clinic, allowing staff to accommodate more veterinary appointments, surgeries and animals recovering from procedures.

The facility will also support treatment for pets experiencing illnesses and injuries.

During the event, visitors can learn about Wright-Way Rescue’s Southern Illinois veterinary assistance program, which provides free medical care for animals in animal control facilities.

Supporters will have opportunities to contribute through donations, room naming opportunities and commemorative plaques displayed near the facility’s entrance.

Plaques can honor individuals, families, businesses or pets and will remain on display for at least two years.

Wright-Way Rescue provides animal rescue, adoption and veterinary services, with an emphasis on rural and underserved communities. The organization offers reduced-cost veterinary care, with additional discounts available to qualifying pet owners experiencing financial hardship.

Those interested in attending the Hard Hat Preview can RSVP by emailing RSVP@wright-wayrescue.org.
