Yeiser Art Center announces first Plein Air Paducah competition

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — The Yeiser Art Center will host its inaugural Plein Air Paducah competition Aug. 21-22, inviting artists to capture the city’s scenery through outdoor painting.

During the two-day juried competition, artists will create original works at locations across Paducah, including its streets, parks, riverfront and surrounding areas.

Jason Bailey, a nationally recognized plein air artist from Paducah, will judge the competition. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

“Paducah has an incredible mix of historic architecture, river views, neighborhoods and creative energy,” Executive Director Brooke Yandle said. “This competition gives artists a chance to interpret that landscape while inviting the community to experience Paducah through their eyes.”
