Zonta Club to honor seven women at 22nd annual Women of Achievement event

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau Area Foundation will honor seven women for their leadership and service at the 22nd annual Women of Achievement luncheon on Friday, Nov. 21, at the Century Casino Event Center.

The event will feature an expo of local organizations and businesses from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by the awards ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Proceeds will benefit local scholarships and nonprofit organizations that support women and girls.

Awards will be presented in three categories: Woman of Achievement, Lifetime Achievement and the Celebration Award. Debbie Leoni will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for her lasting impact on the community through leadership, service and advocacy. The Celebration Award will be presented to Tricia Conner Jackson for her regional service and contributions.

The Woman of Achievement award will recognize one of five nominees: Dr. Debbie Below, Drucella Perkins, Carisa Stark, Kelly Downes and Liz Haynes.

Founded in 1976, the Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau is the region’s oldest organization dedicated to advancing the status of women. Since 2004, more than 147 women have been recognized through the Women of Achievement program.
