A man faces charges after the front glass doors were broken and several items were stolen.

WYATT, Mo. (KBSI) – A Charleston man was arrested and is accused of burglarizing a gas station in Wyatt, Mo.

Justin Hart, 34, of Charleston faces charges of arson 2nd degree, burglary 2nd degree, stealing, and property damage 1st degree with bond set at $75,000 cash only.

Someone traveling to Tennessee stopped at the Station at Three Points near Birds Point and reported the front glass doors had been pulled from its frames just after midnight on July 23, according to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office. The store owner told a deputy several items including cartons of cigarettes, alcohol, and a lockbox containing around $1,100 were missing.

After reviewing surveillance video, a Jeep could be seen backing up and busting through the doors. A man with multiple tattoos, wearing a blue bandana and blue jeans, exited the Jeep and began rummaging through the store.

A couple days later, Hart was arrested wearing clothes matching the description from the store and having a variety of cigarette packs, according to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office.

Hart had an outstanding Charleston Department of Public Safety warrant for arson and was booked into the Mississippi County Detention Center. While being booked into the facility, jail staff noticed a Jeep key in his property. The Jeep identified in the burglary was located the day before in Wyatt.

Authorities obtained a search warrant to gain entry into the Jeep. The key from Hart’s property was determined to be the one from the Jeep. Hart’s clothing and tattoos also matched the suspect in the store surveillance footage.

New warrants were issued. Hart remains in custody on the new charges.

The total stolen items and damage to the store is estimated to be about $24,000.
