Heat Advisory through 7 p.m. Sunday
A Heat Advisory is in place over much of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, western Kentucky and northwest Tennessee for Sunday until 7 p.m. This advisory was issued for heat indices that were expected to climb into the 105-110°+ range because of high humidity and hot temperatures.
A combination of these factors may cause heat illnesses to occur. If plans include outdoor activities today, drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Also, be sure to wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, when possible, under these conditions.
Checking in on some of the heat indices across the area before 2 p.m., many where already eclipsing triple digits. Cape Girardeau, Murray, and Union City were spots that were 110°+. Knowing the signs to heat exhaustion and heat stroke are important on days like this. With any isolated late afternoon thunderstorms, some may get some relief from the heat.
