Hot and Humid to Close the Work Week
We are continuing to monitor dangerous levels of heat and humidity across the Heartland as we close out the work week. An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. CDT on Friday, July 3.
Heat indices will decrease just slightly for the Independence Day holiday. A Heat Advisory will be in place for the viewing area from 8 p.m. on Friday to 8 p.m. CDT on Saturday, July 4. Heat index values are expected to reach above 100°.

Lows will once again remain on the warm side for the start of our Friday. Temperatures tonight fall to the middle and upper 70s.
Mostly clear skies are expected this evening in Cape Girardeau, with light winds giving us a calm start to the day.
Friday looks to be another scorcher in the viewing area with highs returning to the middle 90s.
Heat index values are expected in the triple digits for most of us as well. Be sure to stay hydrated and monitor yourself and other for signs of heat illness.
We may see a few sprinkles with a brief afternoon shower in Cape, though the majority of the day looks hot, humid and sunny to end the work week.
