Storms to slide west into Monday morning; cooler start to August
Overnight into the start of the new work week, things should stay rather quiet for most of us. A cluster of storms near Kansas City just before 9 p.m. Sunday is expected to head our way, but slide just to our west, possibly clipping Reynolds, Carter and Ripley Counties in Missouri by Monday morning.
Stormcast shows a version a little more east than we’re expecting, but heavy rains and some strong gusts are possible as this moves through.
With mainly clear and quiet conditions, there’s a chance for fog in low lying areas in the morning as we approach and almost match the temperature and dew point temperature. A mix of sun and clouds expected on Monday, with an evening chance for storms coming again from the northwest. This time, chances look to be more likely along the Mississippi River.
Chances will roll over almost every night for this next week, generally shifting eastward with who is expected to see rain although some could see it more than once in the coming days. We’ll be monitoring for flash flooding with some of these events, too.
High temperatures will generally be around the upper 80s to low 90s, like we saw on Sunday. Cooler temperatures to stick around for the start of August, too.
For the chance to see locally heavy rain through some overnight events this week, the Skeeter Meter will go from a pleasant “Medium” category for mosquitoes on Monday, to “High” through Tuesday and Wednesday.
Our warmest day of the week looks to come by Thursday, with storms potentially shifting some of these temperatures depending on their timing.
