City of Cape proves working part time can lead to bigger opportunities

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI)- Doug Gannon the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Cape has worked his way up to the top.

His passion for the job led him to a career path that has become a lifestyle, that began in college, “At that point and time I realized that I’ve got a certain, a large degree of satisfaction of from seeing people benefit from things I have a hand in providing.”

City of Cape has not one, but two employees who have found solace in serving the community.

Kaelin Casasola is the manager for the Jaycee Golf Course, “I started in high school actually. I called up and I was like ‘hey you know what’s the process? Do I have to go through training? Do I have to do anything special?’ They were like ‘nope come on; we’ll get you started.”

Casasola says there are different opportunities within the City of Cape that many people don’t realize. “They were like ‘hey do you want to work in other areas, the concession stands or at Osage.”

With multiple jobs fair coming up many can work their way up to corporate level.

The City of Cape is hosting a Part-Time Job Fair in the Osage Center March 22, from 3;30 p.m. to 5;30 p.m.
