Volunteers continue to arrive in Glenallen

GLENALLEN, Mo. (KBSI)- “We got here this morning probably about nine o’clock, nine thirty, bout nine thirty, nine fifteen.”
Volunteers from local and national areas started driving into the Glenallen area early Thursday morning.
Christy Lynn, with Hope International says, “We’re just here to serve the people, give em’ Jesus and give em’ love, and whatever we can do, hot meals, clothes, whatever it is we can do whatever they need, we’re here to do it.”
Local agencies like the Southeast Missouri Food Bank, Hope International, The East Missouri Action Agency and Tyson Foods are all banding together to help those impacted by the storm.
Debbie McFarland, with the East Missouri Action Agency says, “Order food, paper towels, diapers, stuff like that we’re giving out.”
Brian Crowe, Senior Manager with Tyson Foods adds, “The smiling faces and the number of volunteers that have shown up here, it’s incredible.”
Kristin Williams, the Executive Director of Hope International stays positive, “It’s about a forty-five-minute, hour drive up here for us. We just come up here to serve the people.”
Crews are handing out meals to volunteers and families in the community, with no intention of leaving soon.
Dane Bess, Manager with Tyson Foods says, “A meal, probably fifteen hundred to two thousand meals a day.”
Many residents are still taking in the damage to their homes, and searching for belongings that can still be recovered.
As the week continues, volunteers say they plan on sticking around as long as they are needed.
