100 Mile Yard Sale kicks off in Southeast Missouri
SOUTHEAST Mo. (KBSI) – If you’re a yard-saler and live in Southeast Missouri, chances are you’ve made at least one stop along the 100 Mile Yard Sale. And whether it’s just a hobby or a family tradition, there is no doubt that this sale has become a Southeast Missouri staple.
Tina Clark and her daughter Trista normally drive up and down Highway 25 and shop during the yard sale, but Trista had a baby just five weeks ago, so Clark decided to have a sale of their own this year.
“We decided we were going to stay home and spend some time together and sell some stuff, make some money,” Tina Clark said.
Ashley Delgado and her family have participated in this yard sale several times, and they use the money they make during the sale to pay for a family vacation.
“We’re actually planning to go to Florida this year,” Delgado said.
Delgado said the yard sale has become a tradition.
“We just come out here every year. We want to be out with the family. We just have a lot of stuff to sell,” she said.
And why do they have so much to sell?
“My mom, she’s actually a couponer, so that’s why we get new stuff every year, and so we keep just doing it,” Delgado said.
Jeff Essner of Benton shares his love of antiques with shoppers at the yard sale each year. He used to shop during the sale as well but has taken to the selling side of things in recent years.
He said if you are shopping, make as many stops as you can because you never know what you might find.
“I get a little more tired doing that because I’m like, ‘that’s enough in and out, you know, I’ve found enough for the day,’ but I like to stop at all of them because that one thing might be there that you’re looking for, so it’s kind of cool,” he said.
