2 face charges after several vehicle burglaries in Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Ill. (KBSI) – The Harrisburg Police Department reminds residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from them when unattended after two men were arrested after several burglary investigations.

Heath A. McRoy, 38, of Marion, Ill. faces three counts of burglary, theft over $10,000, unlawful possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possesion of a firearms by a felon and resisting a peace officer.

Bobby R. Hatcher, 39, of Carrier Mills faces charges unlawful possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and unlawful possession of firearm ammunition by a felon.

The police department took several burglary reports from residents at the end of June and beginning of July.

A UTV and multiple firearms were taken. Officers recovered the stolen UTV.

Officers tried to make contact with McRoy. They chased him by foot. During the chase, police say McRoy discarded a firearm.

He was arrested and and police recovered the firearm. The firearm has been reported stolen from a burglary that is under investigation.

The Harrisburg Police Department executed a serach warrant at Hatcher’s home in Carrier Mills at 9:45 p.m. on July 8. Police officers and the ILEAS SIRT Team found a firearm that was reported stolen in another burglary that is under investigation.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Carrier Mills Police Department, Saline County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System SIRT Team assisted in the investigation.
